Surf spot description

Peniche Cerro is located in the western part of the big bay of Peniche beach, closer to the town of Peniche itself. It is a spot oriented north/northeast, less crowded compared to other spots in the area, and that’s because waves are mostly gentle and perfect for begginers.

Spot features

Cerro offers gentle waves perfect for begginers and advanced begginers, similar to the waves at Cantinho but a bit more unconsistent. If you get closer to the west cliffs be aware of random rocks appearing here and there.

Close-by spots

A few hundred meters direction Baleal, in the center of the bay, you have the spot known as “Meio da Baia” or “center of the bay” (yes, we know the name is not very imaginative). Here swells enter in a more aggressive way and is a better place if you know how to surf and are looking for more challenging waves or even (sometimes) barrels.

Services in the spot

Peniche is just behind the dunes, so here you have all the services you may need: bars, restaurants, shops…

Region:

The beach of São Lourenço is a very good quality surf spot outside of the radar of all the visitors coming to surf to Ericeira, that is perfect for intermediate and advanced surfers.
