In the urban area of the city of Lagos you find a long beach facing southeast that gets waves only during south and east winter swells.
Description of Lagos Beach surf spot
Most of the year the beach of Lagos is a flat beach where people go for a walk alone or with the dog (in winter) or for sunbathing (in summer). However, in winter and if the conditions are right, the beach of Lagos can wake up and offer nice, hollow, fast and powerful waves that can give a lot of fun to surfers of all levels. If the swell is powerful enough, the spot can develop into fast and hollow waves that offer fun times to advanced surfers that like to rip the lip.
If the spot is working and you go into the water, be aware of localism: nothing extreme, but just let the locals catch the first waves and you will be fine.
If it’s been raining a lot the river can bring down some dirt and pollute a bit the water, but usually and if it is not the case, the water quality is good.
