Surf spots in Algarve

Praia do Tonel is located near the town of Sagres on the west side of Cabo de Sagres cape. Beginner-friendly in summer and when small, it pick-ups a lot of swell and can hold big waves perfect for advanced surfers

Burgau is a 400-meter-wide sandy bay located between Sagres and Lagos. It is a good option in the winter when Algarve’s west-facing spots are too crowded or unsurfable due to storms or massive swells.

Praia do Amado is a very wide, big and beautiful beach in the west coast of the northwest Algarve Region. In summer it is a hotspot for tourists but during winter months can give decent surf.

Lagos beach, also known as “Meia Praia” (we could translate that directly like “half beach”) is the urban beach of the city of Lagos. When it wakes up, with south swell during winter, can offer very fun barrels.

Praia da Mareta is a small bay in the town of Sagres (Algarve). Even pointing south, can offer some decent waves all year round. Expect it to get big with west and south swells.

Praia da Amoreira is a river beach known for its extreme beauty and infinite dunes. Is a very important area from the natural point of view and also offers surf almost all year round.

The beach of Monte Clérigo is a river bay in the southern portuguese region of Algarve. It is known as a spot with small crowds but still can offer some decent surf sometimes. It is neighbour of a very famous spot in Portugal: Arrifana.
