A few meters away from Supertubos and next to the pier of the port of Peniche we find this amazing right handed that can fulfill the expectations of those looking to get barreled. Molhe leste is a very local spot that can give good surf to any level: even schools take beginners here for classes when swell is small. However, when swells are big and Molhe Leste’s barrels start working, it is definetely a spot for just advanced and pro surfers.
Spot description
Molhe leste is a fast and powerful right wave breaking next to the wall of the Peniche fishing port. A classic image of Molhe Leste is what you can see in the pictures: waves breaking in front of the graffiti of a wave painted on a wall with the town of Peniche in the background. This image tells you that you are at Molhe Leste.
Molhe Leste, because is behind the dunes of the beach and next to the port walls, is protected from big north swells and also from the wind. It is a hotspot for local surfers and bodyboarders, that paddle into the barrels one after the other. So yes: there’s a bit of localism here, but usually if you wait for your turn and respect the locals you will be fine.
Sometimes schools take beginners to practice here, using the powerful whitewash that appears when the spot is working.

Services and access to the spot
The access to Molhe Leste and Supertubos is easy: you have two big parking areas with plenty of space. Also there are bars at the bay and the town of Peniche is just around the corner.
